Pond Filtration Systems In Surrey, Sussex and Kent

Many people will be considering the installation of a pond or may indeed have purchased a new home where a pond is present. However, the idea of pond filtration may be a completely unknown concept.

While many ponds can survive with the correct planting and ecology plan, this system can be unstable, particularly when fish live in the pond.  If you are looking for guaranteed balanced water with good clarity all year round, a three-stage pond filtration system with monthly algae treatments is a difficult system to beat.

We tend to use a submersible solids pump. This unit re-circulates water and delivers waste to a pond filtration chamber, the majority of the time this is external to the pond. The sediment and waste is trapped within the pond filtration media. If this system is run 24/7 as it should be, good bacteria break down the waste and finally the water is passed over an ultra violet clarifier - a light system designed to break up algal cells. The clean water then returns to the pond.

Choose The Correct Size Pond Filtration System

The right size pond filtration system running continuously with the correct treatments and maintenance will give you clarity all year round, assuming you do not have excessive amounts of fish. If you do, this could still be overcome if the pond filtration system is large enough. The size of the system you choose is determined by the pond size, pond location, sunlight levels, fish stock and feed quantity, along with natural waste issues, for example heavy deciduous leaf fall.

REMEMBER - NO POND FILTRATION SYSTEM IS COMPLETELY MAINTENANCE FREE!

In order for pond filtration systems to work at their best, filtration units usually require attention on a monthly or bi-monthly basis. This is between 6 and 12 maintenance sessions per year.

There are many different systems and brands available on the market, some considerably better than others.

Aquascape will always be more than happy to assess your pond's needs and provide a full quote for any filtration system to be supplied and installed along with a regular maintenance plan and treatments.
